I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s Christmas party. The turnout was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see so many of you enjoying the evening together. It was also great to reconnect with some friends we hadn’t seen in a while—what a perfect way to celebrate the season!
The food was delicious, and judging by the empty plates and satisfied smiles, it seems everyone agreed.
A special shoutout goes to Bob and Laurie Ferenc for their incredible work with the evening’s entertainment—it was a hit! You both brought so much joy and fun to the celebration. I even spotted a few closet carolers singing the Christmas tunes when they thought no one was looking.
We even had a very brief surprise visit from Santa himself, which brought a little extra magic to the evening—though Nell Owen’s reluctance to get her picture taken with him might have put Santa on the naughty list!
And, of course, to those who endured my singing, I owe you all a very special thank you for not running out the door! Your bravery will surely go down in NAR history.
To those who couldn’t join us this year due to illness or other reasons, you were missed, and we hope to see you back with us soon. You’re always a valued part of our NAR family, and gatherings just aren’t the same without you.
Here’s to many more memorable gatherings in the future. Thank you all for making this holiday season extra special.
Warm regards,
Jeff Slagle
The North Alabama Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) was organized in December 1961 as the "Huntsville Antique Automobile Club". In 1962, the club submitted a petition for charter to the national AACA. The charter was officially granted in February 1963. The, newly named, North Alabama Region (NAR) was the first antique automobile club in Alabama to become nationally affiliated with AACA.
The club's vision is to encourage membership participation in antique automobile related activities including displaying, touring, technical sessions and supporting other antique car group activities. The club strives to offer innovative, interesting and rewarding antique car programs to the entire membership.
The club meets the fourth Thursday of the month at Museum of Information Explosion, 1806 University Drive, Huntsville, AL. Exceptions are that in the months of March, June, and September the club has a dinner night at a local restaurant, the November meeting is held on the third Thursday due to the Thanksgiving holiday, and the December meeting is our annual Christmas dinner held in early December.
NAR is active in the community and participates in local parades, historical events, and public displays. Members also enjoy other club events, such as road tours, "garage crawls", picnics, and educational activities.
NAR hosts an annual Car, Truck, Motorcycle Show and Flea Market. The show is a judged event for vehicles 25 years and older. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards are presented across 34 classes for modified & production vehicles. Special awards include: President's choice, Mayor's choice, Best of show original and modified, and Best Mopar.
Club members and show participants have a vast amount of antique automotive knowledge they are willing to share among themselves and the community.
